Your clients have started asking how you govern AI. So has your regulator, and so has every security questionnaire that crosses your desk. The honest answer, for most mid-market firms, is that nobody owns it.

Hiring for it is hard to justify — the role is real but it is not forty hours a week. Bringing in a national firm gets you a methodology deck and a bill sized for a company ten times yours.
